LINCOLN University College (LUC) successfully organise International Conference on Social Sciences (ICSS) 2025 on 20–21 August 2025 at the Cititel Mid Valley Hotel.
The theme, “Asia Rising: A Way Forward Towards a Sustainable Society,” provide insightful discussions and meaningful exchanges among scholars, practitioners, and students from around the world.

The conference started with opening ceremony featuring the Malaysia National Anthem and the Lincoln University College song, followed by welcome addresses from Prof. Dr. Amiya Bhaumik, Founder and President of LUC, and Prof. Datuk Dr. Bibi Florina Abdullah, Pro-Chancellor.
A keynote speech by Prof. Dato’ Dr. Sivamurugan Pandian then set the tone for the event, which also includes the launch of the Lincoln Komuniti website.
Day One (20 August) includes Plenary Session 1, focusing on New Media and Communication.
Presentations cover topics such as the role of social work in local knowledge indigenization, digital sustainability, fake news, AI in education, and the impact of social media on youth. Presenters join both physically and online, with moderators guiding each session.
The afternoon sessions expand into themes like Social Work and Indigenization, Decolonizing Social Studies, and International Relations and Diplomacy. Notable presentations include analyses of sustainable banking in Myanmar, international construction project management, and geopolitical studies on Somalia and Russia.

The day concludes with a strong emphasis on Sustainable Development, featuring research on green business in Oman, the Rohingya humanitarian crisis, infant mortality rates in Asia, and supply chain diplomacy. These sessions highlight Asia’s role in addressing global challenges.

Day Two (21 August) continues with Plenary Session 2, again under the theme of Sustainable Development. Presentations explore machine learning in cyber protection, sustainable urban design, cultural heritage through creative arts, and the African Continental Free Trade Agreement’s impact on Nigeria.
Other sessions address Psychology, Health, and Well-Being, with presentations on mental health services, menopausal well-being in Sri Lanka, occupational stress, youth development, and language education.

The conference also featured a segment on International Relations and Diplomacy, including discussions on U.S.–China relations, Saudi–Iranian proxy conflicts, and India–Bangladesh cooperation. These talks provide deep geopolitical insights relevant to Asia’s rising influence.

The event ended with a valedictory speech by Prof. Dr. Manual Selvaraj Bexci, Pro Dean of the School of Social Sciences, Arts & Humanities, reflecting on the conference’s contributions to sustainable social development.
